Info: | "Resist is a work of love, loss and
the mental anguish derived thereof. In it we enter the twilight worlds
of lovelorn protagonists, fighting to come to terms with existential
wants and needs. We bare witness to the dark and sorrowful, the
piteously deluded and the tentatively hopeful in a shadow realm of
hopelessness. These lyrical themes form a dark counterpoint to the war
siren synths, soaring, yet tortured, vocals and beats that drive harder
and colder than an Arctic winter." - Mark E Moon With 'Resist' the band decided to cast the net further than before, incorporating the sounds of Depeche Mode, Ultravox, The Chameleons and Marillion. Yet, as with previous releases, the sound they have ended up producing is not really anything like the aforementioned artists. There are hints, nods, tips of the hat even, but there is so much more to it than that. Like all MEM releases they have decided that they want to play their own tunes. You can try to pidgeon-hole them as Darkwave, Dark Post-punk, Gothic Electro, etc. but Mark E Moon continue to defy all genre restrictions and expectations. Located in Douglas/Isle of Man, Mark E Moon came together as a working project in 2018 and is the band name of Mark Sayle and Phil Reynolds. They play dystopian post punk/wave music, gothic and even some dark synth pop. Vocally, Mark E Moon has drawn comparisons with Andrew Eldritch and James Ray. Joy Division, The Sisters of Mercy, The Chameleons, late 70s and early 80s electro: this type of music would become grist for the mill of Mark E Moon (big synths, dark basslines and darker lyrics). Their debut album "Refer" was released in late 2019 followed by their longplayer "Old Blood" in early 2021 and the highly successful EP „Lux Vindictae“ in April 2022. |
