Info: Based in Manchester, UK, the music project of Gary Hunter KRAFTMAN presents his 3rd studio album, the follow-up to "Giro d'Italia" [2022] and the debut "Electrique Fabrique" [2021].
This time Gary produced an album centered around the Chernobyl disaster, that occured in 1986. The album touches on subjects such as "Radiation", "Anatoly Dyatlov" (Chief Engineer on duty in Reactor 4, on the night of the incident), "Uranium-235", "Acute Radiation Syndrome" and more. The album is indeed sequenced in a way, that it tells the whole story of what really happened at Chernobyl on April 26th 1986 and the consequences of the accident.
The musical palette of "Chernobyl" consists of melodic retro-electro, analog synthesizers, robotic vocoders, voice samples and atmospheric ambient - all those familiar and recognizable elements of the KRAFTMAN musical style, which is often called "machine-pop". The album is once again influenced by the work of KRAFTWERK, with a heavy OMD influence too, especially regarding the construction of the melodies.
The CD edition not only includes the 10 main tracks, recorded for the project, it also includes a special 39 minute "Concept Version" of the album, that features all the main CD tracks, with additional recorded elements, so the listener, can immerse himself into the events that occured at Chernobyl on that fateful night, as well as, the aftermath and consequences of the disaster. Highly recommended for fans of projects such as METROLAND, REAKTON, DEUTSCHE BANK, DATAPOP, MASCHINE BRENNT, KOSMONAUTE, SECTOR ONE and… KRAFTWERK!
